Capt. Jim Luce Trips on the Striper


In June, July, and August, Captain Jim Luce offers the Salties half-day six-packs for bass and bluefish fishing off of Monomoy on the Striper out of Saquatucket Harbor in Harwichport, MA. Captain Luce sponsors these trips in memory of his father, Captain Bob Luce, a well-known Cape fisherman and a long-time member of the Salties. Equipment and bait are provided for up to six fishermen and women. The Striper has a main cabin with a head. Two to three people fish off the back at a time. Captain Luce and his mate know where to find the fish, and they provide a memorable day on the Monomoy Rips.

FREE - BARBARA LUCE MEMORIAL WOMEN’S TRIP


In July, Captain Jim Luce offers Salties women a free half-day of striped bass and bluefish fishing off of Monomoy on the Striper in memory of his Mother Barbara Luce. Please bring a $30 cash tip for the mate on the day of the trip. This six-pack trip fills up early, so register early.

FLUKE TRIP


In mid-July Salties have a chance for a day of fluke fishing off of Nantucket on the Helen H out of Hyannis. This special trip is limited to 40 fisher-men and -women provide lots of room at the rail. Salties members get a substantial discount compared to the normal cost. The captain and crew always do a terrific job of putting us on the fish, helping us land the big ones, and cleaning our catch. We almost all leave with full coolers and great memories. Bait and equipment are provided, but you are free to bring your own. 10 oz to 16 oz weights encourage to limit entanglements. Food available on board. Parking available at the Helen H lot, but carpooling encouraged. Don’t forget to acknowledge the crew with a tip.

ANNUAL IN HOUSE DERBY

 

Salties members are eligible to enter the Annual In-House Fishing Derby which runs between April 1 and November 30. Awards are made in two divisions: weight or length, and are presented at the Annual Banquet each spring. For the weight category, fish must be weighed in at certified MA weigh station; and a clear picture of the weight certificate must be included in the entry. For the length category, fish must be measured by total length: tips of tail and snout, and a picture of the fish clearly showing its total length with the measuring device must be included in the entry. Click on the button below for more information.

Salties Charter Cancellation Policy as of May 1, 2026

 

When a charter trip is canceled due to bad weather:

Members will receive a refund to their credit card or by check, depending on how they originally paid.

When an individual cancels their spot on a charter trip for any reason:

When a member cancels, they receive a credit in their Salties account that can be used for a future trip.

If the person's spot is NOT taken, the member will be responsible for their share of the cost, and the credit will be deleted. If the credit was already used, they will be charged again for the trip.

Please note that the Salties Board of Directors works hard to find replacements when a person cancels, but this is not always possible.
