HADDOCK TRIP

 

Salties have a chance for early fishing for haddock on the Captain Johns boats out of Plymouth in the first week of May. This special trip is limited to 40 fisher-men and -women provide lots of room at the rail. Salties members get a substantial discount compared to the normal cost. The captain and crew always do a terrific job of putting us on the fish, helping us land the big ones, and cleaning our catch. We almost all leave with full coolers and great memories. Bait and equipment are provided, but you are free to bring your own. 10 oz to 16 oz weights are typically used, and occasionally up to 20 ox to limit entanglements. Food available on board. Parking available at municipal lot. Don’t forget to acknowledge the crew with a tip.

FLUKE TRIP


In mid-July Salties have a chance for a day of fluke fishing off of Nantucket on the Helen H out of Hyannis. This special trip is limited to 40 fisher-men and -women provide lots of room at the rail. Salties members get a substantial discount compared to the normal cost. The captain and crew always do a terrific job of putting us on the fish, helping us land the big ones, and cleaning our catch. We almost all leave with full coolers and great memories. Bait and equipment are provided, but you are free to bring your own. 10 oz to 16 oz weights encourage to limit entanglements. Food available on board. Parking available at the Helen H lot, but carpooling encouraged. Don’t forget to acknowledge the crew with a tip.

CAPT. BOB LUCE TOURNAMENT TRIPS


In June and July, Captain James Luce offers the Salties half-day six-pack striped bass and bluefish fishing off of Monomoy on the Striper out of Saquatucket Harbor in Harwichport. Captain Luce sponsors these trips in memory of his father Captain John Luce, a well know Cape fisherman and a long time member of the Salties. Equipment and bait provided for up to six fishermen and women. Captain Luce and his mate Billy are guaranteed to put us on the fish and provide a memorable day on the Monomoy Rips. Salties can join the pool for the Capt. Bob Luce Tournament for the biggest fish landed over all the trips.

BARBARA LUCE MEMORIAL WOMEN’S TRIPS


In July, Captain Jim Luce also offers Salties women a half-day of striped bass and bluefish fishing off of Monomoy on the Striper in memory of his Mother Barbara Luce. This six-pack trip fills up early, so register early.

ANNUAL IN HOUSE DERBY

 

Salties members are eligible to enter the Annual In-House Fishing Derby which runs between April 1 and October 31. Awards are made in two divisions: weight or length, and are presented at the Annual Banquet each spring. For the weight category, fish must be weighed in at certified MA weigh station; and a clear picture of the weight certificate must be included in the entry. For the length category, fish must be measured by total length: tips of tail and snout, and a picture of the fish clearly showing its total length with the measuring device must be included in the entry. Click on the button below for more information.
